Raven-Symone and Miranda Pearman-Maday's Relationship Timeline (2024)

Wives for the rest of their lives! Raven-Symoné and Miranda Pearman-Maday started letting fans see more of their relationship once they got married.

The two never addressed their relationship publicly until they walked down the aisle in June 2020.

Symoné also didn’t come out as a lesbian until she took a break from Hollywood to go to college at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. She said being a child star, who started working at age 3, impacted her journey to self-acceptance.

“I never thought I would come out because my personal life didn’t matter,” the That’s So Raven alum said in a 2016 It Got Better video. “It was only what was supposed to be sold as the Raven-Symoné brand. So it was something that I always thought in my head, I’ll have a ‘friend.’ I’ll have a husband and I’ll have a ‘friend’ on the side so I can be happy.”

She said she finally came out publicly because she found someone who was much more than a friend. “I don’t care anymore because I fell in love,” she said.

Symoné and Pearman-Maday married in an intimate June 2020 ceremony. “I got married to a woman who understands me from trigger to joy, from breakfast to midnight snack, from stage to home,” the “Spacetruck” singer wrote in her Instagram wedding announcement.

On their one-year anniversary, the two gushed over each other on social media. “Marriage is about compromise and sacrifice • lucky for me im [sic] married to someone who gets that,” Pearman-Maday wrote along with a photo of the happy couple.

“You know how to communicate with me like no one ever has,” Symoné wrote on Instagram in June 2021. “I too have dreamed of a life like this. So every morning it takes me a while to shake my head into reality. I never thought I’d be living such a fulfilled life. Your beauty gives me butterfly’s [sic] in my chest, your knowledge gives my brain a best friend, your corny jokes gives my tears a reason to fall other than pain. You are the switch in my life that turned the light on. You brighten my life.”

The women opened up about wanting to start a family. "I want four kids. I want a big family," Symonéexplained to Entertainment Tonight. "I want to be able to make sure that the gatherings at the dinner table and the gatherings at holidays are full of excitement and fun. I really don't like the attention on me, even though I'm in the industry, you might think it's true. But if we just have one child, I feel like it's not enough distraction. I want a whole bunch of people in the house."

Pearman-Maday added that they were looking into freezing their eggs, but they're also open to adoption.

For their first anniversary, Symonéemphasized how prioritizing their mental health is a huge part of their relationship.

"We both go to therapy. We both go to therapy in our own version. I just wanted to tell you how much I love you and tell you that your journey of mental health and making yourself better has definitely sparked want in me to get better as well," Symoné told Pearman-Maday in a June YouTube video. "I know that our relationship personally, our relationship outward to the public and our relationship with ourselves will only get better if we take care of our brains."

The couple gushed about their new YouTube channel while making their red carpet debut at the Space Jam: A New Legacy’s Los Angeles premiere. "Oh my goodness, we love the fact that we get to be ourselves, that we don't have a huge conglomerate telling us what to do," the Masked Singer alum told Entertainment Tonight at the event. "We love working together and coming up with cool videos for it and bonding. It feels great ... and to be able to do it with my wife and really have that strength and that companionship, it makes it even easier."

The Cheetah Girls actress told Tamron Hall that her wife had never seen any of her TV shows before they met — and she thought it was "fantastic." She explained, "Imagine being in a relationship with someone who doesn't look at you like a famous person even though you have been famous your whole entire life. You get to be seen. And Miranda provided me with a reality with an honest conversation to the point where she forgets that I'm Raven-Symone or doesn't even consider me that person."

“Raven and Miranda truly are a low-key couple, they don’t do many big Hollywood nights out, so [they] really enjoy them when they do,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly. “Raven and Miranda have a close-knit [group] of friends [who] come over for themed dinner party nights, like Moroccan, any dish with thyme in it, fun things like that.”

The insider noted that while the pair haven’t “ruled out” the possibility of expanding their family, they are currently “very content” with it “being just the two of them.”

The former child star revealed on the "Howie Mandel Does Stuff" podcast that she was strict about her privacy when it came to her love life. "All of my relationships, especially – obviously – when I started dating, I had to get people to sign NDAs," she said. "It took me a while to wrap my head around it because it's very impersonal, but someone in our position needs to do that."

Even her now-wife signed paperwork before getting too serious. "I was really reluctant because I knew something was different about Miranda. ... We both were like, 'This takes away the genuineness of it all,' but we also understood that we live in Hollywood," Symoné recalled.

Later that month, the pair announced a new project — "The Best Podcast Ever" — launching in July 2023.
