It has a 669-seat theatre, a 1,500 seat concert hall, a 130-seat studio, a 103-seat cinema, a large gallery for photography and art, a restaurant and four function rooms. The concert hall is home to the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.
Re-opened in October 2002, the centre was reborn as Lighthouse, Poole's Centre for the Arts. Art installations came in the form of a specially commissioned bar and an all-new imaginative facade to the building that comes alive at night with an impressive display of lighting designed by Peter Freeman.
The theatre caters for young and old. So, if it's settling down to watch Gangster Granny with your family, an evening of laughter with a friend watching your favourite comedian or a serious play with your partner you will find a wonderful choice at the Lighthouse.
Lighthouse Theatre offers spectacular architectural spaces for hire, including a 584 seat theatre, multi-functional Lighthouse Studio, glass facade foyer and an intimate meeting space.
Since opening the Lighthouse has gone from strength to strength. Finished to the highest standards this modern auditorium has 424 tiered seats at ground floor level and a further 143 in the balcony with six private boxes.

Brownsea Island is the largest of the islands in Poole Harbour in the county of Dorset, England. The island is owned by the National Trust with the northern half managed by the Dorset Wildlife Trust.
However, there was no record of a settlement at Poole at that time. The town of Poole was probably founded in the late 12th century. Merchants from nearby Wareham, which was burned in 1139 during a civil war, may have founded it. Poole was built on a peninsula.
